Composer, singer / songwriter, musician and recording artist

Philip Bloom is a composer, singer-songwriter and recording artist blending classical training with contemporary songwriting, creating music spanning pop, musicals and orchestral works.

Philip Bloom is an established composer, singer/songwriter, musician and recording artist who started playing the piano at three years of age. Philip started piano lessons at seven and attended the Royal Academy of Music as junior exhibitioner as well as singing in the choir. At 10 years of age Philip appeared in the BBC schools television series ‘Making Music’ and his class went on to record an album at ‘Abbey Road’ studios.
At 14 he joined his first of several bands and co-wrote his first demo which he recorded at Turnham Green studios in the same studio as the legendary blues guitarist John Mayall. Living in Pinner, Philip attended the same grammar school as Elton John and Simon le Bon, however, school was not a good experience for Philip as he was bullied for most of the time he was there. Only in his final year did his fellow pupils appreciate his talent as they realised, he could play not just classical but pop as well.
After leaving school, Philip worked for Chappell’s music publishers and later for Track and Fly records in London. However, when Philip’s father died so young at 49 years, he closed that chapter in his life and took up nursing instead. Philip achieved an honours degree and became a specialist practitioner in Occupational Health working in the NHS and for many blue-chip companies. Philip also was a part time lecture at both University of West England, Bristol, and Brunel university.
Philip never gave up on his musical aspirations and continued to write and record whenever he could. His music catalogue extends from pop to musicals and even a classical ballet ‘Macbeth’. Philip has enjoyed co-writing with other established songwriters including the late Harold Spiro.
He has released two albums with CD Baby under the name ‘Bloom’ produced by Anthony Galatis. ‘Embryo’ set in a futuristic world and ‘Boom, Songs of War and Peace’, reflecting on the forgotten wars fought since the end of World War II.
Philip has had publishing deals in the past but decided to start his own music publishing company in 2012 named Embryo Music Limited. Philip had entries for Eurovision in Lithuanian two years running sung by Lawreigna with whom he also had the club hit ‘Love On The Beach’.
Recently Philip wrote and recorded ‘Tramps’ the musical with many west end stars, including Daniel Koek, Rebecca Trehearn, Janique Charles and Rosemary Ashe.
